ZACHARY ROBERT BOND
24 MARCH 1993-2 DECEMBER 2023
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved son,
Zach, lost his final battle with addiction on 2 December 2023 at the age of 30.
Addiction was a demon he fought for many years and sobriety was fleeting for
him, with small glimmers and glimpses of hope in between. But, he was more
than an addict.
He was called many names by many people, Zach, Zachy, Zachary, or Ziggy to
many friends and family, “little Goomba” to his Dziadzia Stan, and “No-No” to his
Grandpa Bob “Da”. But, to us, he will always be our son, Zach.
In his childhood he was loving, giving, willful, defiant, and fearless. He ran as soon
as he learned to walk. Smart as a whip, yet a horrible student, he eventually
obtained his GED. He learned to cook from his Mama and loved to help in the
kitchen…sometimes his creations were even edible. He was fiercely protective of
his sister and brothers, always ready to put up a fight to protect those he loved.
His Asperger’s may have played a part in his fierce nature. He never backed down
to anyone, except himself. In fact, he spent most of his life running to or from
something that always seemed to stay just out of his reach.
He remained willful and defiant as an adult, but within him remained that loving,
giving, generous spirit. He would share what little he had with anyone else he met
who might be in need, even when he had little to share. He was kind and helpful
to those around him, including those whose motives were dubious and took
advantage of his generous nature. He just wanted to fit in with other people, and
often some would promote themselves as friends but were only out for personal
gains from Zach. His personal possessions were sparse, he didn’t put much stock
in material things, but he did keep his old childhood Bible close at hand.
From a young age, Zach loved to be outdoors; working the farm and with the
animals, and camping with Dad; fishing; paintball. Zach’s true peace came from
being outdoors, with the animals, or in a river fishing.
He loved ALL the dogs, all the time, everywhere.

He loved to take things apart to find out how and why they worked. An RC car
never made it past a month of play when he was a kid, for he took it apart and
tried to put it back together. Fortunately, as an adult, more often than not when
he took something apart, he fixed it, and it worked when he was done.
He was a consummate story-teller. Separating fact from fiction with Zach took
time and patience, and whole lot of detective work. He could definitely spin a
yarn and make you believe it (Thanks Papa Phil and Dziadzia Stan).
We are all blessed to have known and loved Zach in the time allotted.
Zach is up in Heaven, tinkering with “Da” (Robert Lewandowski), fishing with
Grampa Eugene Bond, Papa Phil Van Buren, and Dziadzie Siggy Jurczyk, telling tall
tales with Dziadzie Stan Lewandowski, and eating pierogi with Buszia Mimi
Jurczyk.
Left to cherish his memory are parents, Stevan and Becky Bond of Toledo; Sister,
Racheal (Jon) Jakubowski of Columbus; brothers Aaron (Catherine) Bond of
Toledo; Joshua Supinski of Dayton/Akron; Nieces Samantha and Abbi;
Grandmothers Helen Bond of Florida, Barbara Lewandowski of Florida; and a host
of aunts, uncles, and cousins and a multitude of friends.

“I’M NO LONGER A SLAVE TO FEAR
OH, I AM A CHILD OF GOD
I AM SURROUNDED
BY THE ARMS OF THE FATHER
AND I AM SURROUNDED
BY SONGS OF DELIVERANCE
YOU SPLIT THE SEA
SO I COULD WALK RIGHT THROUGH IT
MY FEARS ARE DROWNED IN PERFECT LOVE

YOU RESCUED ME
AND I WILL STAND AND SING
I AM A CHILD OF GOD”
(Zach Williams, “No Longer Slaves”)

In lieu of flowers, please simply extend grace and kindness to others. Offer
assistance to a homeless person you see, for Zach was once homeless, despite
always knowing he could always come home.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Chuck, Zach’s apartment manager,
who gave Zach chances when others wouldn’t.
Special thanks to the staff of the Franklin County Coroner’s office for their care of
our son, and to the staff of Edward’s Funeral Services for going above and beyond
to make this difficult time a little easier.
