William H. (Bill) Burress Sr, 88, passed away on July 17, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born to the late Seddie Burress and Beatrice Reed on July 10, 1933 at Beech Bottom, West Virginia. Bill was married for over 50 years to Lillie (Peterson) Burress. He was known for his love of fishing…oh the tales he could tell. His OSU Buckeyes remained a fan favorite his entire life…go “Scarlet and Gray!” Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge – Eastern Star, and the Elks. But he was mostly known for his love of family and especially his love for his grand-babies…he was so proud of them.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Seddie and Beatrice; his sons William Jr. and Steve Burress; his brothers George, John, and Steven Burress; and his sisters Mildred Thomas, Francise, Helen, and Mildred Burress, and Billie Smith.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Lillie; his sons Rodney Burress Sr, Shannon W. Burress, and James Burress, his daughters Tacoma Burress, and Kathy Johnson; his brothers James, Nathaniel and Eugene Burress; his sisters Debbie Davis, Tracy M. Burress, and Patty Burress Ray; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family is inviting friends and family for calling hours on Friday July 30, 2021 from 1 PM to 2 PM, at Edwards Funeral Service, 1166 Parsons Ave, Columbus. Service immediately follows at 2 PM.
