William (Billy) Ray Scarberry age 51 of Columbus, Ohio took his heavenly flight Thursday February 12, 2026, surrounded by family and close friends. He was born Oct 20, 1974 in Chattahoochee Florida to the late Donald Ray and Sylvia Jean (Nickels) Scarberry.
During his courageous battle with esophageal cancer and leukemia he rededicated his life to the Lord, was baptized, and found peace in knowing that his eternal life would be spent in heaven along with parents, two brothers Bert Michael Scarberry and Ronnie (Bunkie) Scarberry; his true love and mother of his son, Pamela Smith; and the one he’s been longing to see, his son William (Boo) Scarberry, who left this earth way too soon.
Billy was taught at an early age to use his hands to work hard and to always take pride in his work. He will be remembered for his talent and skill and ability to do any type of manuel labor whether using heavy equipment, welding, construction, or hanging drywall, he mastered it all; After going to Luxe Rehab and Care center, he was known to pull a few shenanigans by going out with friends for breakfast and mudding drywall while gone. His favorite pastime was fishing with friends; He had a love for country music, his favorite song was Choices by George Jones, which reminded him of his own life choices. His strength was hard work, his weakness was sweets, one of his favorites was Lori’s no-bake cookies.
He leaves behind three sisters Angela Clay, Beth Ann Nickels, Doshie Elizabeth Scarberry; one brother Danny Ray Scarberry. Four children that he helped raise and loved as his own, Brianna, Crystal, Amber and Will; along with nine he called his grandchildren. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ginger Kelley who he loved dearly and remained by his side during his courageous battle with cancer and pain.
Thanks to OSU James; Hospice of Central Ohio; Luxe Rehabilitation and Care Center of Lancaster along with all the doctors, nurses and staff for the outstanding treatment and care that he was given. Hospice Chaplin Seeyong Lee for his compassion, visits and prayers. Childhood friends, Jim, Mike and Sean for hours of visits, phone calls and family support and most of all being his true friends till the end.
