Pansy IIene Yoder

April 20, 1954 — June 15, 2025

Fredericktown

Pansy Ilene Yoder, 71 of Fredericktown, Ohio passed away surrounded by those who loved her at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Pansy was born on April 20, 1954, in Richlands, VA to the late Lester A and Thelma (Shoupe) Keen.

On December 24, 1972, she married the love of her life, Harold “Yogi” Yoder at the North Woodbury Free Will Baptist Church. They lovingly shared 42 years together prior to Yogi’s passing on May 12, 2015.

For her entire life Pansy was a caretaker. She worked at many different nursing facilities caring for residents like they were her family. She most recently worked at Morrow Manor Nursing Home in Chesterville, Ohio. Pansy cared for all people and animals in kind as her heart couldn’t handle anyone not having someone to love them. For the last seven years Pansy became Mom to her three great grandchildren Payton, Alistair and Tilly by assuming custody of them. She fought for them to have a better future and there was nothing that she would not do for them.

Pansy loved playing Bingo and traveling to casinos with her husband and her sisters. She loved a good cup of coffee while enjoying ripe tomatoes with a side of homemade gravy and toast. Swinging on her front porch, the smell of fresh rain and daisies. She was forever spunky, and it showed when she was cheering on her Buckeyes during football season. She loved watching shows about cooking as the backs of many envelopes held the recipes she wanted to try.

Pansy will be missed by her four daughters: Tina Hill of Johnsville, Ohio Nicole Wheeler of Georgia, Julie Gillispie-Carle (Matt) of Grove City, Ohio and Whitney Waits of Cardington, Ohio. Six grandchildren: Zacharia Hill, Isaiah Hill, Adrianna Hill (Eric), Whitney Waits, Shanta Lewis, and Clarissa Lewis. Eleven great grandchildren: Alistair Bowen, Myles, Bowen, Cleo Carle, Brooklyn Fife, AnnaLeah Hill, Jilly Hill, Tilly Hill, Wyatt Hill, Payton Waits, Colton Williams, Cora Williams and Mason Williams. She is also survived by special niece, Tabitha (Brad) Brooks and nephew, Cody Blevins. Siblings, Jessie (Omie) Keen, Kenneth (Billie Jo) Keen, Juanita Lewis and Irene (Keith) Nichols; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by siblings and their spouses, Rondal (Sandy) Keen, Bessie Hammond, Jackie (Ron) Gillispie, Loyd (Gladys) Keen. Friends may call Friday, June 27th from 11am until 12pm at the Pines Christian Church located at 6775 US Highway 42 Mount Gilead, Ohio where services will immediately follow at 12pm with Dr. Jeff Collins officiating. If you feel led to send floral arrangements, Pansy loved daisies and yellow roses.

Monetary contributions can also be made at the celebration of life to help continue care for Alistair, Payton and Tilly. Our family would like to extend thanks to the compassionate care received by the nursing staff and doctors at Riverside Methodist Fifth Floor Blue ICU during Pansy’s passing. We appreciate the special care and compassion shown by Edward’s Family Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio.
