Margaret Ann “Peggy” Hooks, 69, passed away April 8, 2021 due to complications from multiple sclerosis and post-COVID infection. Her sense of humor, courageousness, kindness, and graciousness will be deeply missed. Despite her physical limitations, she savored and appreciated life and served a long career as a teacher.
Peggy was born March 25, 1952 to Bob and Faithe Hooks. In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by sister Johann Cozart. Peggy graduated from St. Timothy School, Bishop Watterson High School and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from The Ohio State University.
Peggy taught elementary school at St. Rose in New Lexington for two years, and St. Mary Magdalene for 25 years. She was recognized by the diocese and St. Mary Magdalene parents for her service. After her retirement in 2005, Peggy enjoyed hosting family gatherings and playing bridge and euchre.
Peggy is survived by siblings Bob (Kathi) Hooks, Dan Hooks, Miki (David) Barnes, Greg Hooks (Jane Rosenberg), Tess Hooks, Jenny Hooks, Tim Hooks (Krista Barber), and sister-in-law LoEtta Hooks. Peggy is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews, and hundreds of beloved students.
