Luella Baker Johnson was born to the late Lilly Mae Baker on July 18, 1925 in Monroe, Georgia. She departed this life Peacefully on November 18, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois. Luella was joined in Holy Matrimony to Edward Johnson, Sr. on September 23, 1943. To this unto five sons were born. Luella was employed by Ohio State University Hospital as a Lab Assistant until her retirement. She received a Healthcare Alliance Humanitarian Award from Good Will where she volunteered as a Senior companion even while being a senior herself. She accepted Christ at an early age and was member of St. Mark A. M. E. Church in Columbus. She was an Evangelist, a Stewardess, a Lifetime Missionary and Layperson and a member of the Senior Choir. She was a faithful woman of God and a true prayer warrior. She truly loved God and never forgot her morning quiet times with Him. No matter what she was called, Mom, Grandma, Aunt Lue, Lue Baby, Lue the Great, Lady Luella, or Mother Johnson she was truly loved by all who knew her and were touched by her sweet and loving spirit. She loved cooking and serving others. Her home was always open, warm and Inviting. She enjoyed traveling and was blessed to be able to go to the Holy Land. Those who knew and loved her will never forget to remember this amazing women the Matriarch of the Johnson family. Luella was preceded in death by her mother, Lilly Mae Baker, Her husband, Edward Johnson, Sr., her brother, William Baker, And her sons, Van Johnson, Unwondus Johnson, Stanley Johnson, and Marlon Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Pastor Edward Johnson, Jr.; daughter-in-laws, DeMurma Johnson, Glenda Johnson, and Glenda Richardson; sister-in-law, Rev. May Lou Presley, brother-in-law, W. C. Johnson; thirteen grand-children, several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at St. Mark A. M. E. Church, 480 Trevitt St., Columbus. Visitation and Viewing 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Homegoing Service 11:00 am. Interment Arlington Memorial Gardens, Canal Winchester. Edwards Funeral Service serving the family.
