Mrs. LaVon Brumett, nee Lavonne Marilyn Baker, died February 13, 2018 at Columbus West Park Nursing Home. She was 84 years old.
She was born in Batchtown, Illinois to Emil and Lusetta Baker, a farmer and housewife. She had 3 sisters and one brother, Vera Landis, Evelyn Birmingham, Edwina Traitor, and Glenn Baker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was married to Mr. Earl Vincent Gent, a pharmacist, of Collinsville, Illinois in 1950. Together they had 2 children, Gail Evelyn, born 1951 and Tracy Ann, born 1957. Tracy Ann died in 1962. Both Mr. Gent and her second spouse, Mr. Bert Brumett also preceded her in death.
Her daughter, Gail Evelyn King, nee Gent survives and lives in Saint Johns, Florida where she is a pharmacist. Her granddaughter Ellen Tracy King, also survives and lives in Inverness, Florida where she works as an office manager.
LaVon was a homemaker and a pharmacy technician at CVS for many years. Her hobbies included reading and needlework including cross-stich and embroidery. She loved butterflies, flowers, and dogs, particularly dachshunds.
She was a Lutheran by faith. She will be interred beside her daughter and first husband at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bethalto, Illinois.
