Kulah Jean Malling

April 24, 1962 — November 1, 2021

Columbus, OH

Kulah Jean (Daniels) Malling passed quietly from this life on November 1st, 2021, in Columbus, Ohio, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with lung cancer. She was the wife of the late Kevin Brian Malling (d. 10/2016) for 33 years, mother to Kevin (MacKenzie) Malling, Kelly (Brian) Self and Krystal Malling, and grandmother to Parker Jacob Malling, Jasmine Marie Holbrook and Baby Girl Malling (Due January 2022). She is preceded in death by her husband, both parents, and three sisters: Teresa Harrison, Patricia Daniels, and Angela Scarberry.

Kulah was born April 24th, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio to Dewey Delano Daniels and Loretta King. She grew up on the South side of Columbus and graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1980. Known in life as a vibrant, outspoken, opinionated woman, Kulah met her late husband at TeeJay’s Country Place in 1982. They married on April 6th, 1983, in Columbus and had three children together. Kulah worked in various industries over the course of her life. She, along with her husband, founded Balin Ironhill Web Consulting where Kulah was the CEO and Chief Designer. As an avid gamer, reader, and fully unrepentant nerd, one of her biggest achievements was her collaborative role in the creation of the online gaming platform known as The Realm. She spent 5 years designing, testing, and refining the early iterations of a game that would be the foundation for the wildly popular MMORPG gaming world. Kulah had a passion for animals and fiercely loved her four Husky Grandboys (Aiden, Coilin, Faolan and Ronan). She would spend countless hours curled on the couch with them as she played Assassin’s Creed, read her favorite book from the Heart Mate series, or watched yet another episode of CSI.  Kulah loved Springtime. She would spend the winter planning for her vegetable garden, organizing her seeds and setting up her indoor greenhouse for new plants. She would then put her garden in, tend to it all summer and help her daughter, Kelly, with canning the fruits of her labor. She loved to cook and found great joy in sharing her recipes with the many surrogate children and grandchildren she claimed for herself.

Kulah is survived by her children, grandchildren, three sisters (Rosemary Adkins, Lolita Barnhill and Beverly Holloway), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family members of the heart that she claimed as her own. In true “Kulah” fashion, her wishes for her passing remain as humble as she was in life. She requested that no one spend a bunch of money to make a fuss over her. She did not want a funeral or memorial service and will be cremated as she requested.

In lieu of flowers, financial donations can be made in Kulah’s honor to The Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue at the following link: https://hhshr.com/how-to-help/fundraising-campaigns.html . Pet supplies, foods/treats or gift cards can be mailed directly to the rescue at the address below.
