Kimberly Lynn Perry-Jones

January 4, 1966 — October 14, 2023

Westerville

Kimberly “Kim” Lynn Perry-Jones, age 57, from Westerville, OH, passed away at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital on October 14th, 2023.  Kim was born January 4, 1966, at Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth, OH.  She was the daughter of Phyllis Burchett (1939-98) and Lindsey H. Perry (1921-67).

She was a 1984 graduate of Valley High School in Lucasville where she was a cheerleader, played volleyball, the Sweetheart Queen, and was active in many school activities. She was a 1988 graduate of Otterbein University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  She continued her education receiving a Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University in 1997.

Kim and her husband Jeff were both active members of their community and career educators in Columbus Public Schools.  They advocated fiercely for children, first their own, as well as those children they served in their community.  There was not an activity that their children were involved in that Jeff and Kim did not also give their time and talents to support.

Kim dedicated 33 years of her life to the Columbus City Schools, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless students and colleagues. During her career, Kim assumed the role of instructional coach, where she transitioned from nurturing young minds to inspiring her fellow educators. While Kim may have passed on from this world, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and inspired.

Kim was preceded in death by her father Lindsey Perry, mother Phyllis (Burchett) Linville, sister Ruth Perry, brothers Charles Perry, Chuggie Perry and James Perry. Jeff, her loving husband, departed this world just 15 hours after her death.

Kim is survived by her daughters Abigail and Emily, step-sons, Quinton (Troy VanGundy) and Cameron (Kelsey Kirsch); her aunt Sandra Martin and uncle William Burchett; along with four nieces and nephews, and many more cherished friends and family members.

A joint memorial service to celebrate the lives of Jeff and Kim Jones will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church in Gahanna, OH (455 Clark State Rd). As neither Kim nor Jeff were fans of funerals, Tie-Dye or Hawaiian attire is suggested; bright colors are welcome, but please no black. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM. The Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Parking is slightly limited, so please carpool if possible.
