Joseph Vandament Friend, a man of unwavering service, grit, and heart, passed away surrounded by the legacy he built. Known as a protector by trade and a cowboy at heart, Joseph lived a life defined by his commitment to his family and his community.

Joseph’s life was a testament to the "servant’s heart." He stepped up whenever his country or community called, serving with distinction in several capacities

Advocate for Youth Perhaps his most enduring legacy was his compassion for those struggling. Joseph founded and operated a group home for troubled teens, providing a safe harbor and a path forward for many young lives.
Joseph was the cornerstone of a large and loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Michele L. Friend, and his six children: Will Friend, Mathew Friend, Joseph T. Friend, Abigail Patton, and Sarah Houser. He leaves behind a bustling legacy of 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who will grow up hearing stories of his bravery and kindness.
He now joins those who went before him, including his daughter, Erin M. Friend, and his daughter-in-law, Danielle M. Friend. While his loss leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew him, his influence remains in every life he saved and every child he mentored.
