Obituary

Johnnie Owen Steinbrook, 85, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away in Zanesville, Ohio, on [date].

John was born on April 15, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Forrest and Lorena Steinbrook. He grew up in Columbus and was later drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country.

Throughout his life, John worked many different jobs, always searching for his place. He was best known for his love of jogging, long walks, and quietly observing nature. John found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching Jeopardy!, playing Pac-Man, and reading everything from newspapers to National Geographic. He was also a familiar face at the local library, rarely missing a daily visit.

John had a playful spirit and was well known for his love of playing the Ohio Lottery, often saying that one day he would strike it rich. Those who knew him will always remember his humor, resilience, and hopeful outlook on life.

He is survived by his daughters, Lorena Walters; Cheryl Steinbrook (John Hartley); and Kathie Steinbrook (Jewel Price); his son, Forrest Steinbrook Sr.; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Palmer (Don); his brothers, Tracy Steinbrook and Tom Steinbrook (Diana); as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his daughters, Sharon Steinbrook and Barbara Steinbrook; his son, Johnnie Owen Steinbrook Jr.; his granddaughters, Laura, Angel, and Melissa; his sisters, June, Chris, and Chloe; and the mother of his children, Ruth Reid.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to play a lottery ticket in his honor.

Our Papaw will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
