Obituary

James “Jim” Sullivan, born May 10, 1942, passed away on October 10, 2026.

Jim will be remembered as a man who was always there for his family whenever they needed him. Reliable and dependable, he was someone his loved ones could count on, and he met the people closest to him with steady care and a generous heart. He was all smiles whenever he saw his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the time he shared with them became some of the most cherished parts of his life.

In his younger days, Jim worked in roofing and siding. He took pride in that work, and he loved showing his family different neighborhoods where he had helped build houses. Those drives and conversations reflected both his strong work ethic and the quiet satisfaction he carried in what his hands had helped create.

Jim found joy in simple pleasures and familiar routines. He loved spending time with his family above all else. He enjoyed gardening in his younger days and had a fondness for recycling pop cans, a habit so familiar that his family could hear him crushing them in the morning before school. He was a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins and loved NASCAR racing, especially Jimmy Johnson. He also enjoyed good, comforting food, including sandwiches, soup, and a nice bowl of grandma’s chili.

Some of the memories his family will hold closest are of Jim taking his grandchildren to school and helping them with homework. He loved seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his happiness in those moments was unmistakable. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of being cared for.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Brenda Sullivan. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Cristin Molter, Sadie Hunt, Gabriella Salinas, Timothy Molter, Jonathan Justice, and Anthony Salinas; and his great-grandchildren, Laniya Patterson, Ermes Nunez, Avyanna Hudson, Amiyah Hudson, Josiah Hudson, Aiyana Hudson, Mariah Molter, Awilla Frazier, Alaya Frazier, Avaya Frazier, Macey Molter and Juilan Molter . He is also survived by Jorge Salinas, Jill Schofield, Nikki Schofield, and Jason Hudson, who were part of the circle of family and friendship that meant so much in his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sullivan; his son James William Sullivan Jr., his daughter, Elizabeth “Sissy” Sullivan; his granddaughter, Brandi Molter; and his grandson, Caleb Faught.

Jim’s life was marked by devotion to family, pride in hard work, and delight in the everyday moments that become lasting memories. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
