Hugh Melvin Lynch, age 84, of Cleveland, Ohio was born to the late Dr. Herston H. and Beadie Adeline (Hollingsworth) Lynch on July 26, 1939. Hugh was the sixth child born of this union. He and his family attended Shiloh Baptist Church from childhood. Hugh went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 28, 2023.
Hugh attended East High School and enrolled at Central State University. Hugh graduated from Wilberforce University in 1969. Hugh also graduated from Andrews Barber College in 1962. Hugh worked with his brother Dave Lynch to learn the trade. Hugh was an enthusiastic Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan, always making sure everyone knew when games were on and what channel.
Hugh has worked in many fields including teaching, real estate, insurance and government. Hugh retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2016 after working for over 35 years. He enjoyed working with people and having in-depth conversations on numerous topics. With all his education and jobs, he always wanted to help others. In 1972, Hugh was united in marriage to Jeanette (Perry) Lynch and to this union was born one child, Jennifer Jevelyn Lynch-McKinney.
Hugh is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Herston H. Lynch and Beadie Adeline (Hollingsworth) Lynch, his brothers Amos Hollingsworth Lynch, Sr., Nelson Davis Lynch, Dr. Orville C. Lynch, Sr., David Eugene Lynch, his sister Jevelyn Ann (Lynch) Bonner, Geraldine Lynch (sister-in-law), Mary Lynch (sister-in-law), Dr. Ralph W. Bonner, (brother-in-law) nephew Amos Lynch Jr., niece Marie Hunter, and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Hugh Lynch leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of over 50 years, Jeanette Lynch.
Hugh Lynch is survived by his children, Marsha Wilson (Darryl), Jennifer Jevelyn Lynch-McKinney (Kyle), grandchildren – Ashley J. North (Andrew), Ebony R. Loving, Michael W. Loving Jr. (Brittany), Darius V. Loving, Jordin McKinney and Kristin McKinney, great-grandchildren – Skylar Walsh, Miah Walsh, Jael Walsh, Sophia Walsh, Avah North and Drew North, Malia Hamilton, Cameron Hamilton, Sir Kairo Kane Loving, and one great-great grandson, Kalei Carter Chavis. Hugh is also survived by his sister-in-law Gwen Lynch, sister-in-law Elaine Walker, sister-in-law Gaynelle Bradley (John), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
