Obituary

Heather Anne West (née Burks) passed away on June 22, 2026 in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on January 12, 1975 in London, Ohio to Johanna Hodanbosi and Cramer Burks. Her journey through life was marked by strong strength of character and the ability to chat with and charm anyone she met. She had a love of reading and sharing her many history facts.

Heather was the wife of Dana West. They were married August 23rd, 2007 and shared over 18 years of laughter and fun. They loved to travel and made many memories in Las Vegas, their favorite destination.

Heather is survived by her husband, Dana, and three children: Morgan Burks, Jacob Hicks, and Ambro West. Heather’s love for her children shaped her world. She was always thrilled to offer them a helping hand and sage advice. She shared many words of wisdom over the years and passed along deep-rooted values that her children will carry for the rest of their lives.

Family was everything to Heather. She cared deeply for her siblings, Chad, Ryan, and Matt. Her extended family also includes her great-aunt, Wilda “Jackie” Hall, and her beloved grandmother, Esther Burks, both of whom preceded her in death. Heather’s love and relationships extended to many, many friends and family members. Her sense of humor, wisdom and warmth left a lasting impression on every life she touched.

Heather enjoyed the holidays, particularly Christmas. She was deeply generous, gave thoughtful gifts, and took great joy in gathering loved ones to celebrate. Her family will cherish many memories gathered around a Christmas tree that was always lovingly decorated with a collection of ornaments, some silly, some beautiful, all with a story attached to them.

Heather’s life, though taken too soon, will be remembered as one full of love. Her absence will be felt deeply by all that knew her.

There will be a memorial held on July 11, 2026 with a gathering of friends and family at 1pm  and a celebration of life that will start at 2pm.  Services will be held at Families First located at 1166 Parsons Ave Columbus, Ohio 43206.  614-444-3200
