Geraldine A. Torr

Geraldine A. Torr (Geri), age 92, was called home to Heaven on September 18, 2023, after several years of battles with her heart. Although her body was frail, her mind stayed sharp and her inner strength, spirit, and the love she possessed for her family, friends, faith, and her husband Herbert carried her through to the end. Geri was an alum of St. Mary’s of the Springs in Columbus, Ohio. She worked for and retired from AT&T in 1992. After retirement, Geri worked briefly for Bullock Garages and frequently joined her husband with his business, Dad’s Lawn Service, until retiring for a second time in 2008. She spent her retirement with winter trips to Port St. Lucie, Florida, volunteering and helping plan various church functions, making and perfecting pancakes for her grandchildren, and baking her famous pineapple upside down cake for almost any party or event she ever attended. Geri was a long-time parishioner of Holy Spirit Church in Columbus, Ohio and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers Volunteer Network. She is preceded in death by parents Henry and Roseanna Overfield, brothers Robert and John Overfield, sister in laws Mary and Maxine Overfield, Daughter Barbara Wheatley, and her husband of 71 years Herbert Torr. Geraldine is survived by granddaughter and grandson/caregivers Molly Chase and Jason Chase and daughters Sue (Daniel) Taylor and Tana (Rusty) Owens. She is also survived by grandchildren Nicolas (Amy) Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Jeffrey (Rachael) Taylor, Adam Owens, Michael (Cara) Owens, Benjamin Owens, and Katherine (Benjamin) O’Brien, several great-grandchildren and great-grand pets.

Funeral service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4383 East Broad St., at a later determined date. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
