Gene Lee Chandler, 61 of Zanesville, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Sunday July 9 at Mount Carmel West Medical Center.
Born in Muskingum County, of Zanesville, Ohio, on September 23, 1961, he was the son of the late Linda Chandler, and the late Gene Henderson.
Gene was the most kind hearted, loving person, that would help anyone out. His passion was his family. Gene loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved music as he would say, “It speaks to your soul.”
He had a passion for helping his nephew Brian Anthony Lee “Man” with his boxing matches, as well as detailing cars.
In death he is survived by the love of his life Cheryl Strickland, who he spent many years loving. He is survived by his children, Shawnisha Chandler ( Marcus Haile), Britni Chandler, Bryan Chandler, Shayla Chandler (JD McBride), Jasiah Chandler, and Lamiah Chandler. His loving siblings, Angela Lee ( Brian Lee), Carmitta Chandler (Norman Gaines), Josh Henderson (Jessica Henderson), Antoinette “Squeaky” Edwards (Nate Edwards), Ethan Lynum, Eddie Lynum ( Christina Lynum). His Aunt Lisa Ritterback. He had 11 grandchildren, lots of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, who all loved him dearly. Gene had many long time friends who he cherished and will miss him terribly.
Gene is proceeded in death by his parents. His grandparents Audrey and Dale Chandler. A brother Jon “Skip” Chandler, his uncles Butch and Larry Chandler his loving niece Nickeisha Lee-Dunn, and his son Andrew Chandler.
There will be no services or visitation. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
The Edwards Funeral Service German Village Chapel in Columbus, Ohio will be assisting the family with their arrangements.
