Diane “Cookie” Edwards, age 72, gained her angel wings on October 3, 2025, at 7:47 p.m.She was born on February 4, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, where she also peacefully passed.
She was the beloved daughter of Mary Ellen Edwards and Ocie P. Edwards (born in Williamson, West Virginia), and was greeted at Heaven’s gates by her grandparents, Gussie (Green) Mills (born in Maysville, Kentucky) and Oliver O. Edwards. Diane was the youngest of four siblings: Oliver N. Edwards, Harry E. Edwards, and Sharon L. (Edwards) Huntley.
She was the proud mother of Javonnah "Vonna" Edwards and loving grandmother to Jazeonia “Jazzy” Edwards, both of whom she adored deeply. She lovingly gave them nicknames they will cherish forever — “Vonna” and “Missy.” Diane also leaves behind 55 nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts. She also had close relationships and best friends whom she loved.
Diane graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1971 where she loved playing softball. She later attended Columbus State Community College. Over the years, she dedicated herself to various careers — working as a clerk typist for the Columbus Fire Department (1971–1973), a Factory worker at Owens Illinois Factory creating TV screens, a Receptionist at North Central Mental Health Services (1974–1978), and later as a Police Records Technician I with the Columbus Police Department (1979–1990).
Diane had many joys in life. She loved watching sports, cowboy shows, and movies, playing cards and board games with “Missy,” popping chewing gum, and chatting on the phone with family and friends. She was an amazing cook whose recipes will be passed down for generations. She loved her Diet Coke, cashew peanuts, and dining at Red Lobster, Hunan House, and every pizza place she could find! Diane also enjoyed playing lottery games and watching her favorite shows — Jeopardy, Family Feud, and The Price Is Right. Diane loved bright colors, especially purple and blue, which reflected her cheerful personality.
Her laughter, kindness, and warmth will forever be missed but never forgotten.
