Danita Christine Sawyer, born June 14, 1977, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at home in her sleep on September 16, 2026. Her passing leaves an ache in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will be held close by the many people whose lives were brighter because she was in them.

Danita was a strong, resilient, hardworking, passionate, loving, and hilarious woman whose presence drew people in. Everyone loved to be around her. She had a gift for talking life into others, even while carrying her own burdens, and she spent her life taking care of people both at work and outside of work. She was always willing to give her last to help someone else. That generosity, along with her warmth and spirit, made her unforgettable to those fortunate enough to know her.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved especially deeply. She enjoyed going to Mi Mexico, having a drink, spending time with her friends, and simply having fun. Danita embraced life with energy and heart, and she brought that same joy and openness to the people around her. She also held hopes for the future, aspiring to become a nurse and planning to return to school to make that dream a reality.

Of all the things Danita did in her life, she always said that her children were her proudest accomplishment. That love was the center of her world, and it continued to grow through her grandchildren, who brought her great happiness.

She is survived by her son, Asaan Jackson; her daughter, Jordan Jackson; and her grandchildren, Micaiah Harris Jr., Nasir Jackson, and Samaar Jackson. She is also survived by her lifelong partner, Rahman Jackson; her sister, Denitra Sawyer; as well as aunts, cousins, friends, coworkers and others who will miss her dearly. Each of them carries forward memories of her laughter, her strength, her care for others, and the love she gave so freely.

Danita was preceded in death by her mother, Carla Sawyer.

Those who loved Danita will remember a woman who gave of herself completely, who cherished her family above all else, and who brought comfort, humor, and encouragement wherever she went. Her love remains in the lives she touched, and her memory will continue to live on in her children, her grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.
