Charles Emerson Milner was born October 31, 1949. He found rest October 4, 2021, at age 71. Also known as Chucky in his earlier years of life and Chas as an adult. He was raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended East High School. He had offspring (one, three, and one respectively) from three marriages.
Charles entered the U.S. Army at age 16 and did two tours of duty. He was a Sergeant and functioned as a parachute rigger being part of Company C 4th Battalion, Airborne 503rd Infantry Brigade, and the 173rd Airborne Brigade “Sky Soldiers.” Charles was honored with the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge, Purple Heart, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Expert Badge M-16, First Class Unit Citation, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and Bronze Star. He was a disabled veteran.
Charles enjoyed bowling, cards, and dominos. He loved R&B music and snacks! He also sewed clothes or crafting projects.
Charles is preceded in death by parents Virginia Powell-Milner and Emerson Milner; brothers James Milner and Gregory Battle. Survived by devoted dutiful daughter Dancetinie Milner; devout son Charles E. (Monique) Milner II, son Derrick Milner; daughters Chante’ Milner, Caitlin Milner; grandchildren Vince Milner-Williams, Tyler Milner, Tyren Evans, Charles E. Milner III, Caleb Neal, Taylor (Devin) Burrell, Delonna Milner; great-grandchildren Ma’Haili Burrell, Isaac Burrell, Daily Burrell, Tyten Milner; special cousin Patricia Williams; sisters Andrea Jamison, Pepper Johnson; special nieces Derrian (Tony) Coaxum and Dura Johnson; and a host of other relatives.
