Charles Ernest Lynch passed away on June 8, 2026. He was born on August 23, 1973, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., to Ernest Payne and Theresa Anne Lynch.

Charles attended West Elementary School in Washington, D.C., and later graduated from the Ohio Public School System. He was an avid sports enthusiast who played junior football and basketball, with basketball remaining his greatest passion. As a child, he treasured an autographed football from the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders.

At an early age, Charles moved to Ohio and attended Buckeye Boys Ranch, where he excelled in athletics and became a standout basketball player.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Loren Jackson and Bella Grace Watkins; one son, James Jennings; three brothers, Damian Stevenson, Kevin Payne, and Keith Payne; one sister, Cher Adina Payne; two uncles, Murphy Payne and Randy Payne; two aunts, Sarah Payne and Jacqueline McSwain; and his devoted life partner, Christina Hatton. He also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Charles served as a father figure to Kaprisse, Taylor, Jayden, Dyonye, Dominique, and many others.

Charles was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carrie Bell Payne; his son, Anthony James West; and his uncle, Jeffrey Payne.

On Monday, June 8, 2026, God called Charles home to his eternal resting place. Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, we find comfort in knowing that God loved him best. Rest on, Charles. You are home now, and you will never be forgotten.
