Charles Joseph Hendrix, Sr, age 79, entered into the loving arms of his Savior, in Toledo, on July 28, 2020. Charles was born to Helen Jean (Carman) Hendrix on June 30, 1941 in Columbus, OH. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Jackie Hendrix. He is survived by his son, Charles J. Hendrix, Jr., grandsons Jordan Charles (wife Jordan Michelle) and Dante’ Hendrix, Josh, Javon, and Aaron Morgan, as well as his great-granddaughter Aaliyah Michelle Hendrix (Jordan C. and Jordan M.), sister Sheefra Yakir (Jerusalem, Israel). He also leaves behind a host of loving cousins and family members including several brother and sister-in-laws from the Smith family (Jackie) as well as a host of close and dear friends.
He graduated from Columbus East high school and then went on to obtain his B.A. in Business Administration from Franklin University.
Charles loved cooking, Ohio State and Indiana State Football, and the Cleveland Browns. Additionally, he was known for the “Smith Place” reception and catering center and his neighborhood restaurant & bar “Our Place”. He enjoyed being with family and friends, reminiscing about the old days, watching his grandsons play sports, and overall just living life to the fullest. Long time volunteers within the Columbus, Ohio community, he and his wife, Jackie Hendrix (deceased) were avid servants giving their time and support to host of various charitable causes with the most recent being the Stowe Mission.
The family will hold a private ceremony officiated by Edwards Funeral Service in Columbus, Ohio.
