Bruce Christopher Prowell, Sr.

Bruce Christopher Prowell Sr., 62, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 9, 2025. Bruce was born on August 28, 1962, in Akron, Ohio. He attended East High School in Akron, Ohio, then served in the US Army. He coached the little league Mohawk Raiders football team and was a diehard NFL Raiders fan. He enjoyed 38 years as a semi-truck driver and was passionate about his two driving companions; his precious dogs, Clyde and Bruno. He loved to tell stories and make people laugh.

Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Levonia Prowell; his brothers, Courtney Prowell, Vincent Prowell and Eric Prowell; and his grandson, Vincent Stanley (Prowell). 

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Bonita Prowell and their children; Nitche Prowell Nikkeya Prowell, Bianca Prowell, BeTina Prowell, Bruce Prowell Jr., Bosston Prowell, Byrstee Prowell, Bruce Gibbs, Trelissa Body, Kelly Redd, and Kenet Lindsey; nearly 40 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; his sister in-law, Carla Burkes and his nephew, Nathaniel "Nate" Burkes; his best friend, Elmer "Moe" Mahone; his brother, Irvin Prowell; his sisters Veniece Farrak and Arlene Hunt; and a host of other family and friends.

Thank you to the staff at OSU medical center for caring for Bruce as he transitioned. Thank you to Brother John Blackwell for counseling and studying with Bruce over the years and for your continuous support of our family. Bruce is loved, forever cherished and will never be forgotten.
