Columbus

Betty Nell Hunt, a beloved figure known for her infectious humor and vibrant spirit, passed peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on September 30, 1937, in Greenville, Alabama, Betty faced many challenges throughout her life, yet her indomitable spirit and ability to find joy in everyday moments left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Betty dedicated 30 years of her life working for the state of Ohio, a testament to her commitment and strong work ethic. She graduated from the School of the Blind in Columbus, Ohio, which equipped her with both the skills and resilience to navigate life’s obstacles. Her love for singing and socializing highlighted her outgoing personality as she was always one to enjoy going out to eat and connect with those around her.

Her humor was infectious, often bringing joy and laughter to gatherings. Many will fondly remember the playful, light-hearted joke her brother pulled when he took her to choir rehearsal. Arriving early, he playfully placed her in the driver’s seat, fully aware of her blindness, only to delight in the surprise of their fellow choir members. This memory encapsulates Betty's character—joyful, spirited, and always up for a good laugh.

Betty is survived by her brother, James E. Hunt (Veda) sister in law along with a host of nieces and nephews who cherished her presence and the warmth she brought to their lives. She was predeceased by her parents, Booker T. Hunt and Easter Hunt, who undoubtedly laid the foundation for the remarkable person she became.

A visitation to honor Betty will be held on February 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Families First at Edwards in Columbus, Ohio. Following this, a funeral service will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.

In celebrating Betty's life, we remember a woman who, despite the challenges she faced, lived life fully with a spirit that touched the hearts of many. Her legacy will continue through the laughter and love she shared with her family and friends.
