Amber R Parmley-Calendin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Columbus, Ohio, on April 8, 2026. Born on December 3, 1980, in Columbus, Amber’s life was marked by strength, courage, and an outspoken nature that made her a steadfast pillar to all who knew her.
A proud graduate of high school, Amber was known for her unwavering determination. She was a person who could be relied upon in times of trouble—always the one called to solve problems and get things done. Her kindness and approachable demeanor left lasting impressions on many, with people frequently remarking on how genuinely nice she was.
Amber’s deep love for her family was evident in her proudest accomplishments: raising her children and cherishing her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother to her daughter Kayla Skaggs and her son Bobby Caldendin. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Nova Jacobs and Karter Jacobs, who brought immense joy to her life. She was also a loving daughter to James Parmley and held a special bond with her niece Lily McCallister and nephew Jacob Bowshier.
Amber was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Skeens, and her sister, Jasmine Parmley, whose memories she carried close to her heart.
Beyond her familial roles, Amber found pleasure in the simple and meaningful joys of life. She loved to cook and clean, finding satisfaction in creating warmth and comfort in her home. Additionally, she had a fondness for shopping, enjoying the experience of spending money and indulging in her interests.
One treasured memory that highlights Amber’s strength and commitment involves her dedication to her children’s success; she once showed up at her daughter’s school looking determined to ensure no more bad grades were received, a testament to her fierce advocacy and love.
Friends and family will gather to honor Amber’s life and legacy at a visitation on April 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Families First at Edwards, located at 1166 Parsons Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43206. Following the visitation, a burial service will take place the same day at Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio, beginning at 2:00 PM at 5591 US Route 68 South.
Amber R Parmley-Calendin’s indomitable spirit and heartfelt love leave an enduring imprint on all who knew her. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by her family, friends, and community. Her legacy of strength, kindness, and devotion continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
